Conservation
Our long-term approach to conservation in the Drakensberg.
The Drakensberg Mountains are more than the backdrop to Berghouse & Cottages. They are our home, our guest experience, and our greatest responsibility.
Our vision is to leave the land healthier, richer, and more resilient than we found it. Through the restoration of indigenous vegetation, the removal of invasive alien plants, the protection of natural water sources, and the preservation of wildlife habitats, Berghouse & Cottages is committed to nurturing an ecosystem that can thrive for generations to come.
We believe that conservation and hospitality go hand in hand. By embracing sustainable practices and encouraging responsible tourism, we help guests experience the beauty of the Drakensberg while contributing to its protection.
Located in the Northern Drakensberg of KwaZulu-Natal, Berghouse & Cottages offers scenic Drakensberg accommodation with direct access to nature, mountain views, hiking experiences, wildlife habitats, and a long-term commitment to sustainable tourism.
Every tree planted, every hectare restored, and every conservation initiative undertaken is an investment in the future of this remarkable Northern Drakensberg landscape.
Our goal is simple and enduring: to ensure that the grasslands, rivers, mountain views, and diverse wildlife of the Northern Drakensberg continue to inspire visitors for generations, remaining as wild, beautiful, and vibrant as nature intended.
Berghouse & Cottages remains committed to protecting this special part of the Drakensberg through indigenous vegetation restoration, clean water protection, wildlife habitat preservation, and responsible tourism.
